“Pity.” Still holding her chin he brushed the pad of his thumb over the swell of her bottom lip. “Because dessert’s nowhere near done.” He spoke softly to her, intimately, as if Killian was not in the room. Voyeurs stood on the outside.

He sank his hand into her hair, grabbing and twisting to get a firm grip until his knuckles tucked close against her skull. Everything about her seemed to sink with relief as her lids shuttered tight. The faintest hint of a smile on her lips as she went limp in surrender.
