The tremble became a shiver, fear or delight – sometimes it’s hard to tell. The body just follows what the soul wants.

She felt him before she heard him – physically at her back, his presence enveloped them.

“If you’re going to share my bed, there’s two things you should know about me, Kiki. When I give you an order I expect you to obey.”

His words crawled over her skin leaving goose-bumps in their wake. Menace and sex all rolled into one.

“And misleading me is not in your best interest.”

He realised she had stopped talking. She was staring at him, her lips slightly parted as her breathing changed. Her eyes fell down to his lips as if she’d felt the weight of his stare.

She reached for her glass and almost knocked it over. Instinctively his hand shot out and caught it, drops of red wine splashing on his skin.

“Shit.” She looked at him as if the spell had been broken.
